Welcome to the new version of ShopGirlStar. I was bored at work and played around with a new layout and color scheme. It's simple, but I like it. I'm also making a few minor changes to the blog. I'm going to keep updates to 1-2 times per week rather than every time I get a deal.

I'm also going to start listing the coupon information. For example if I use a $1.00 Tgel coupon, I'm going to put "-$1.00 Tgel Coupon (RP 12/7)" - meaning the coupon was in the 12/7 Red Plum coupon insert. If the coupon is a printable I'll put an "(IP)" link next to it. If the coupon is something I received in the mail, I'll simply put "(mail)". (Of course, if you have any suggestions, please leave a comment or email me!) This method starts with this entry! :P Now on to some CVS deals from Tuesday (01/20/09) evening...

The greeting card deal is different from store to store, depending on which cards they carry. Some areas are Hallmark cards, buy 3 get $3.00 ECB, limit 5. Unfortunately our area is American Greetings cards, buy 3 get $3.00 ECB, limit 1. One! Boo!

New Subtotal: $20.86

Used: $7.99 ECB, $5.00 ECB, $5.00 ECB, $2.00 ECB

Paid OOP: $0.87 + tax (cash)

Received: $5.00 ECB (tgel), $10.00 ECB (maybelline), $2.00 ECB (zantac), $3.00 ECB (cards)

This was a great transaction, since I use Zantac and Tgel daily. And both items are generally quite pricey! I received the $10 off $50 coupon from the in-store scanner, but it beeped at the register that it did not belong to my card. The numbers matched, so the cashier rescanned it. The second time it said the coupon had already been used! It took about 5 minutes for the shift supervisor to manually deduct $10. All of us were confused about that one! Thankfully it was at my friendly store with my favorite cashier. :)

I received my Huggies coupons in the mail today, so we ran to Rite Aid for a fantastic deal. Further deal details are after the next two transactions...

$25.00 - Huggies Wipes @ $2.50/box x 10

Subtotal: $25.00

- $5.00 Rite Aid Coupon ($5/$25 IP)
- $10.00 Huggies Coupons @ $1.00/ea. x 10

New Subtotal: $10.00

Paid OOP: $10.00 + tax (cash)

Will Receive: $2.00 Huggies Rebate, $10.00 Kimberly Clark Rebate

This went smoothly, but our store was low on wipes. We ran to another store a few miles away and repeated the same transaction...

$25.00 - Huggies Wipes @ $2.50/box x 10

Subtotal: $25.00

- $5.00 Rite Aid Coupon ($5/$25 IP)
- $10.00 Huggies Coupons @ $1.00/ea. x 10

New Subtotal: $10.00

Paid OOP: $10.00 + tax (cash)

Will Receive: $2.00 Huggies Rebate, $10.00 Kimberly Clark Rebate

A few details about this particular Rite Aid deal: I used the $1.00 bath & body coupons from the 1/11 Smart Source, not the $0.50 wipes coupon - no beeps! The sale tags at Rite Aid specify that only the 72-80 ct. tubs (natural care) are on sale for $2.50, but the 64 ct. tubs (soft skin & calming touch) ring up $2.50 as well. :) After all is said and done, I made $4.00 on this deal. The $2.00 Huggies rebate is for purchasing 2 Huggies products. The $10.00 rebate is for purchasing $25.00 worth of Kimberly Clark products (ie Huggies).

I went ahead and cashed out my very first month of Walgreens rebates. I checked the ads for next week and didn't see anything of interest. I hope to have my card in time for the February FAR deals. Next week should be good for CVS. I'm still doing my homework on next weeks deals. See you then!
